Initially, Belle Bermúdez was taken aback when a woman on the street signaled her to come over. However, upon arriving at the spot, she discovered a matted dog hidden in some bushes. The concerned woman asked if Bermúdez recognized the dog, but it was evident that the pooch required assistance. Hence, Bermúdez decided to help the dog, whom she later named Swiftie.

According to Bermúdez, Swiftie had long and tangled hair that completely obscured her eyes. When he initially attempted to get close to her, she ran up a hill, but he managed to catch her using a spare leash given to him by his neighbor. Despite being caught, Swiftie was frightened and refused to eat, drink, or move when anyone was nearby.

Bermúdez scanned Swiftie for a microchip, but no such luck. She decided to take her home and enlist the help of a friend experienced with dogs to give her a bath and grooming. However, they discovered something unexpected during the process – Swiftie was hiding a big secret. As it turned out, she was heavily pregnant!

Bermúdez and her partner were unsure of what steps to take when they learned that Swiftie was expecting. Eventually, they decided that it would be wise to bring her to a rescue center with greater expertise than they had. Bermúdez shared, “This would ensure that she and her puppies were in good hands.” She intended to transport Swiftie to the facility promptly at 10 a.m. the next day, as soon as it opened.

The following day, Bermúdez observed a peculiar behavior by Swiftie on the camera they had installed to keep an eye on her. Alarmed, she immediately went to check and discovered that Swiftie had already commenced giving birth. Despite being apprehensive initially, Bermúdez instinctively went into mother mode and fetched towels while also calling a friend who assisted her in grooming Swiftie. The friend arrived just before the arrival of the third and fourth puppies, aiding in cleaning them up and ensuring they nursed from their mom. Swiftie gave birth to seven adorable puppies – Traffic Light, Lover, Augustine, Lavender, Haze, Cowboy, and Saturn. Although Bermúdez and her family had planned to take them all to a rescue center, their bond with the newborn pups deepened over time, eventually leading to a change of plan.

Bermúdez shared that she had initially planned to keep the tiny creatures for only a couple of days, as Swiftie needed time to recuperate from childbirth. However, when the newborns started losing weight, she began providing them with formula and Nutrical. As a result, she extended their stay to five to seven days until they had all stabilized. However, as time went on, Bermúdez and her husband became more invested in ensuring that the animals grew and prospered. Eventually, they decided to foster them for the next eight weeks and find permanent homes for each one.

Swiftie has been apprehensive and hesitant throughout the entire journey, but she is gradually becoming more confident each passing day. She is slowly regaining her trust in people, bringing joy to Bermúdez and her family as they witness her transformation. Although Bermúdez never intended to bring home eight dogs that day, she now cherishes the experience and wouldn’t exchange it for anything else.

DAR Animal Rescue received news about a tiny puppy left abandoned under a bench. Unfortunately, even after posting the information on Facebook, no one came forward to save her.

It was quite perplexing to find a small, muddy puppy left alone. However, a rescuer from DAR came to the rescue and was appalled by the poor state of the little pup.

She was quite feeble and her chances of survival were slim.

The person who saved the little dog covered her with a soft cloth and brought her to a veterinary clinic. Upon examination, the medical staff discovered that she had parasites attached to her body that had consumed much of her blood supply. In addition, her eyes were inflamed. Due to being undernourished and experiencing anemia, the puppy was too feeble to stand on her own.

The young dog felt delighted when the veterinarian provided her with nourishing sustenance in the form of food and water.

The team put in a lot of effort to aid the puppy’s recovery, and while it’s impossible to foresee what lies ahead, things seemed to be looking up now that she was receiving proper care.
