The heartwarming tale was shared on Facebook by Peggy Edwards on May 2, 2016, and it quickly became an internet sensation. Officer Joe Brazil is an integral part of this touching story, which began when a car startled a small and nervous Yorkshire terrier. The frightened pup darted into a tunnel, and Officer Brazil took swift action to save the day.
A little dog was seen running about and got scared by a car passing by on April 30th. It collided with a tunnel that runs through a nearby creek. Peggy shared the story on Facebook, explaining how the dog was stranded around 20-25 feet inside the tunnel and was clinging to the edge. Although she felt it was necessary to help the small dog, she was scared as she didn’t want to scare it away further into the tunnel. Peggy called the Woonsocket Police Department for help, hoping they could assist. Luckily, Officer Joe Brazil came to her aid and arrived at the scene a few minutes later.
Peggy shared the story of what had happened and the brave Officer was enthusiastic about helping out. Without any hesitation, he jumped in and returned with a soaked and frightened little dog. The dog was lucky to have such a hero come to its rescue. Peggy expressed her joy that the little girl was saved. The kind Officer even took off his shoes and socks before entering the tunnel to retrieve the tiny dog.
The Officer from WJAR NBC10 was able to contact the source of the news, and according to him, as he approached the tunnel, he saw Cece clinging to the side and trembling in fear. The dog seemed extremely scared, so the Officer took extra care not to frighten her any further down the tunnel. The Officer’s next move was amazing! He allowed Cece to sniff his fingers a little deeper into the tunnel until he was close enough to lift her up and rescue her.
As shared by Brazil with WJAR NBC10, the sweet dog seemed to express gratitude towards her rescuer as if saying thank you. The photo captured the affection and appreciation that Cece showed towards the attractive officer who saved her. Interestingly, Cece was not a stray dog as she belonged to a loving family. According to an interview with WJAR NBC10, the adorable pup’s name was Cece, and her owner, Michelle Perez, was delighted to have her back. Perez revealed that she received the cute puppy as a gift from her mother-in-law, but it escaped the next day causing them much distress.
In an interview, Perez revealed that he couldn’t sleep and spent his time driving and contacting people to find his five-month-old puppy, Cece. However, thanks to the efforts of Peggy Edwards and Officer Joe Brazil, Cece was rescued from a scary tunnel and reunited with her owner.
